“Donald Trump has too much baggage.”
“My name is Chuck, I’m from the Eastern shore of Maryland, and I have been a Republican for 56 years. I voted for Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020, because he was a man that showed me that he was against the establishment. the so called swamp and I was looking for somebody that was going to attack that swamp and get us back on the right track.
“I liked his international policy in respect to China and Russia and NATO. I liked that he loved, I was a former police officer and I liked that he loved cops, and he was a straightforward talker. I think that Donald Trump has too much baggage and I’m a pragmatic thinker and there’s only two ways of looking at an issue and that’s emotionally or intellectually and our, the Republican base, the Donald Trump followers, which I was one,
“are listening, looking at the issues emotionally and to win this next election. We need to look at the issues intellectually. I don’t think Donald Trump could win this election because, be quite frank, after the display in the 2022 midterms, which Republicans basically fell flat on their face. And I think a large part of that was because of Donald Trump’s candidates.
“And I think we need somebody that appeals to the independents, which you have to win a national election and for the next election, I think we need a candidate that is more class instead of crass. And I think we need a candidate that has the same ideas as President Trump had and some of the same policies, be able to present them in a more palatable fashion than they’re being presented now.”
